Divorce is a life-transforming experience. After divorce, childhood is different. Adolescence is different. Adulthood—with the decision to marry or not and have children or not—is different. Whether the outcome is good or bad, the whole trajectory of an individual’s life is profoundly altered by the divorce experience.
Having practiced law for 25 years, Cheryl is committed to finding creative solutions for legal issues that are less financially and emotionally painful for her clients. Collaborative law is an excellent way to do so. She strongly believes that courts should not be where we begin to resolve disputes, but only where we end up after alternative methods have been considered and tried.
Cheryl is the Treasurer and a past President of the South Carolina Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and was a founding member and past president of the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Charleston Bar Association and the South Carolina Women’s Lawyers Association. She also has been a frequent lecturer on financial, commercial, and domestic issues; and, has written articles regarding collaborative law.
